Here are 2 charts I have but can't find the third one. One show metal by band type and the other by genre
The one I'm missing is like the second one but it includes many many more breakdowns. Its like each band creates its own to be unique and stand out not realizing they're actually diluting or deluding themselves into a corner and probably limiting their audience an potential appeal. If they're good they'll stand out not matter how they categorize themselves

Just seen this on Youtube , I didn't know Hetfield and Mustaine settled their differences. Plus a lot of great musicians.
