The agency says the video, along with a training video that parodied the TV show "Gilligan's Island," cost about $60,000. The "Star Trek" video accounted for most of the money, the agency said.
The IRS said Friday it was a mistake for employees to make the six-minute video. It was shown at the opening of a 2010 training and leadership conference but does not appear to have any training value.

i was a procurement officer for the federal gubment. the money we pissed away every year on bullshit was astonishing. makes your skin crawl sometimes but the money was good .
when you get for example, 10 million and you only spend 9 million, the next year you'll only get 9 million. to avoid this, the last month of the fiscal year everybody put in for every pet project, bullshit retreat they could find.
it's disgraceful.
