McDonald's Hopes This Sandwich Will Crush Subway

McDonald's officially added a new sandwich called the "Chicken McWrap" to its permanent menu in the U.S., and Ad Age reports that this is the item the fast food chain hopes will take on Subway. In fact, Ad Age's sources "familiar with the situation" say that the wrap is even referred to as the "Subway buster."
A McDonald's rep, however, noted that it does not "comment on speculation or information we believe was obtained through unauthorized means."
McDonald's McCafe is clearly a Starbucks competitor, so the chain isn't afraid to take on new rivals.
The McWrap totals between 360 and 600 calories, depending on whether the chicken is grilled or deep fried. It also comes in Chicken & Bacon, Sweet Chili Chicken and Chicken & Ranch.
This new option along with the impending egg whites-only Egg McMuffin shows a move to appear more healthy.
Get ready for the big marketing push to get consumers on board for the new, fresher look.

They've been offering it in most places for almost a year I think.
It's not horrible and for McDonalds it's pretty good. Ask for dressing on side.

Cheap too. Around a buck fiddy.

That looks good, but that is no way even related to Subway, so how is this supposed to "crush" Subway.

This sandwich is a wrap using tortilla, Subway makes sandwiches using bread. Completely different.

Agreed, that isn't a sandwich, a sandwich has to be bread imo.

I wish real fast food places with real drive thrus would just face facts and serve real sandwiches. Arbys dabbles, but then they slather them in 500 calories of extra mayo and sauces. When you're in a hurry you don't feel like standing in a line while a guy goes "do you want white or wheat/mayo/oil/vinegar/cheese? Just make a standard whole grain/turkey/lettuce/tomato sandwich and people can buy it or not. Toss in a packet of mayo and mustard for those who want it.

Subway isn't the same as it used to be. First time I had it was back around 1989 in Connecticut. My friend and I ate those things every day on our trip. Anytime we'd see one, we'd have to stop and get one. That was back when they cut out the wedge in the roll, and then filled it up and stuck that little wedge back on top. Now they just cut it in half like everyone else. Then they started with all the different kinds of bread and I think they tinkered with the original white bread, because it's just not the same. This Italian bread is not the same. That and the meats are not nearly as good. I think as they've grown they cut back on the quality. About the only thing they've added over the years that I like more is the southwest sauce. Now given the choice I go with Blimpies.
