Why the hell did they do this? I caught this opening weekend when I saw it with my daughter, and it bugged me for some reason.

This is the opening black and white credits. There is a HUGE spoiler hinted at/given away at the :24 second mark.

I took my daughter and thought it was good. I wouldn't take a date, but if you have kids its a good movie to see.

Eh. I'd definitely rent it. Eventually. They lead up to the Wizard of Oz in some cool ways, but they don't own the rights to the original, so they can't actually MENTION a scarecrow character, or a talking lion, or munchkin land. They just hint at shit.

For example, after the wizard lands in oz, for no apparent reason whatsoever there is a lion attack.

Just a lion. Not a funny, talking lion.

Just a lion.

Then it's over and never mentioned again. I'd be all "Do you guys remember that fucking lion?!! Is that shit normal around here?!!"

I found it to be pretty bad. 4 out if 10 is my review. Really bad storyline. The black and white part was good the rest was pretty bad.

I really want to read this thread but since you said it had a spoiler, I am forcing myself to boycott it.

I hope the movie isn't as bad as I think it is cause I'm probably going to go see it.

Sure, I'd read about it, but the entire concept of the movie is supposed to be the fact the audience believes Rachel Weisz to be hiding the fact SHE is the evil witch. It's supposed to be a big twist when it turns out to be Kunis. They even designed the makeup to look like Weisz in the tiny bits of released images.

Even if you didn't read about it before hand, you can figure it out in about 5 minutes.
