I am so freaking sick of this crap. If you sign up to be an officer of the law, you are signing away a good level of YOUR personal safety in order to protect the public. So many violent acts are dismissed under the guise of 'officer safety,' when in reality, it's just officer cowardice or unchecked ego.

If you're dumb enough to serve a no-knock warrant on a home with children and small animals inside, you don't get to shoot caged dogs under 'officer safety' ESPECIALLY over a fucking bag of weed (1).
If you're so stupid that you can't talk an uncooperative pregnant woman down, you don't get to taser her into compliance (2).
If you can't handle being shouted at by an unruly 15 year old GIRL, you don't get to beat her until she bleeds (3).
You don't get to throw flash grenades into homes to say hello, and you don't get to shoot children for shits and giggles--oh and then lie about it (4).

There's good reason why firefighters are (without a doubt) heroes in the public's eye. They will run into a fiery building, risking their lives, to save people they don't know. That's sacrifice. That's heroism. Protecting yourself AT THE COST OF public safety is antithetical to the VERY JOB of a police officer. If you're not willing to die to protect innocent life, if you're not willing to put yourself in harms way in order to do your job, then you should find a new meal ticket.

We as citizens need to take a hard look at the justifications police give us for an ever-increasing level of public endangerment. There is a reason the public doesn't trust the police, because they shouldn't (5).

And yes, public safety is important. And yes, being a police officer is hard, traumatizing work. But none of that is an excuse for the level of brutality we're witnessing more and more. Being a cop is VOLUNTARY. If you can't handle the job... get a new one!

And thanks to YouTube (and sites like it), we can now SEE what these assholes have been doing all this time, and getting away with (6).
Which is why cops are fighting our right to film their activities (7).

I read the tazing of the pregnant woman story. I cannot believe a federal court sided with the officers. What's the difference between tazing on stun mode or punching her? If they had punched her into compliance, that would have been OK too?

Since its slow here on the boards and I'm waiting on a phone call, I regale you with tales of my run-ins with the police. I must say that I am almost certain that most cops started out their school years envying the bullies, but were never "cool" enough to run with the bullies. Therefore they are trying to overcompensate for being outsiders by taking out their aggressions out on mostly helpless people and making enough shortcuts in their work to be lazy, but to never get fired for being lazy. Also, they all have micropenises.

Let me give you a little background on myself. I mostly obey the law with the exception of smoking a bit of weed here and there and a bit of downloading activity. I pay taxes, I've never had a traffic ticket. I was arrested once admittedly. It was when I was 17 and I tried to shoplift a $150 pair of leather pants from a store and was caught. I was held for a few hours and I got 100 hours of community service which I served at a Goodwill store. Since that happened, I have never tried to shoplift, not even stealing food when I was broke. I truly learned a lesson from the experience. Since then, the owner of the store and I have made amends and I am in his good graces.

Incident 1: I was living at an apartment complex with my then boyfriend, now husband. It was New Years Eve. After the countdown, we kept hearing multiple gunshots being fired in front of our complex. We called 911. They told us, "What do you expect? Its New Years Eve.". The pigs are not effective nor do they care about protecting civilians.

Incident 2: My husband and I contemplated moving to another city. We circled some apartments and houses from a newspaper and drove there to check these places out. One of the houses we looked at happened to be on the edge of a massive housing project. We did not know this until we started driving trying to get back to the highway. All of a sudden, we are pulled over by a cruiser with two policemen. They turn on their high beams and Cop 1 comes up to the window. My husband says "Why did you pull us over?" Cop 1 says "Your license plate isn't illumined." My husband says "Oh really? Let me take a look." Cop 1 says "No! Stay in the car!" Meanwhile we notice Cop 2 milling about behind our car. We know we are being pulled over because the neighborhood is sketchy and we don't fit the racial demographic and we tell him "We're here looking for a rental property" and we show him the sheet of paper with addresses and rental information written on it. He looks at it a while. Cop 2 is still walking around and doing stuff behind our car. Cop 1 says "You can go, get that light fixed." We drive straight to a Walmart to buy a new license plate light. We walk behind the car and see that the fixture had obviously been ripped out from its setting. Not only did we have to buy a bulb, but we had to buy duct tape for the fixture. We spent money we had appropriated for a modest dinner at Qdoba. We ended up driving back hungry because we couldn't afford dinner. The pigs break laws to prove a point.

Incident 3: We had a weird cat lady who was our neighbor that we shared a wall with. Her scumbag son gets out of prison and comes to live with her. Suddenly, there's shady guys hanging out with him out on the lawn, whiffs of crack smoke, and general fuckery at all hours. One evening, my husband and I are in our apartment trying to watch "The Simpsons". All of a sudden we hear two women fighting in front of our door. They are screaming and shoving each other into the door. We call the cops and they say they'll be there right away. 45 minutes later a cruiser pulls up, the white trash hookers had already settled their shit, and the crackies just denied everything. The pigs don't respond to crimes in a timely manner.

Incident 4: My husband and I are still living in the place where Incident 3 happened. We wake up one morning to pick up a friend and drive him to work. We go out in the parking lot and our car is nowhere to be found. We call all the local towing companies, they haven't picked it up. We (reluctantly) call the police. A pig eventually comes out and fills out a report. Its been nearly 6 years since that happened, no update on if they are trying to find our car, and they certainly didn't find our stolen car. People for a couple of years would ask us,"Did they find your car?". I always wanted to laugh in their faces and go on a tirade about the evils of law enforcement. The pigs aren't interested in actually solving crimes or recovering stolen items for civilian crime victims

Fact of the matter is that the pigs only want to pull you over for traffic violations, are only effective if they stumble across someone in the midst of committing a crime, or use their authority to intimidate and brutalize civilians.

Fuck them.

The ONE time I called the cops was for a drunk driver. I had my local station on speed dial. I was following him, I told the cop his licence plate number and the cop said "call 911". I just drove home and removed their number from my phone.

I've seen the show Cops enough times to know that four officers can easily subdue a person and have them hogtied within a few moments. A zip tie around his feet and handcuffing him behind his back and the struggle ends pretty damn fast. These fucking guys wanted to teach him a lesson by beating him into submission. I've seen shows where huge, muscular dudes are uncooperative in prison and the guards have them hog tied and out of their cell without having to beat them.

This happened in LA, so my bet is that the fuckers will walk free. They can't convict anyone in LA unless they're an impoverished minority.

There might be bias here. Turns out she's gay and alleges that the police dept has been after her for awhile.
