don't forget the spirit and opportunity mars rovers - i think they had a 90 (martian) day life scheduled, and these guys have been going for 6 years. opportunity got stuck in the sand and was left in place, but spirit is still going.

I think in one of the articles I read they mentioned that with powering down some systems the Voyager probes still have 10-15 years of battery life left. Can't even find a car battery that can give ya 10-15 yrs, let alone 50+, these days.

It won't be leaving the universe for another 14,000 years depending on your definition of our universe. When stars form they form in clusters of thousands or even millions. When our sun formed it left something called an 'Oort cloud'. It won't be for thousands of years before Voyager 1 leaves that cloud. Still though it is an amazing accomplishment. Amazing what we can accomplish when we aren't busy blowing each other up and killing each other for corporate profits.
