Our great ex-gov Rod Blago came up with that one. It used to be an extra $150 fine if you were caught speeding when there was actual construction work going on but now all they have to do is throw a few orange cones on the side of the road and it becomes a construction zone.
Just this afternoon, I was going straight through a T-intersection and a school bus was stopped at, what I thought was the stop sign. It was only when I was halfway past the bus I noticed the bus driver had her flashing red lights on.
The thing is, it was late afternoon and those school buses don't have the flashing red lights on the sides; you can only see the flashing lights if you're behind it or approaching its front.
I was thinking, man! That would've been a nasty ticket to fight in court.
...or worse. I could've hit some rug rat who thought it was cool for him to run through the intersection since the bus driver had her flashing red lights on.
I went up to Massachusetts for a job training, long day. 10 hours of bullshit where you sit in a chair. On my way home Im going 80-85, I was zoning out. I see the red and blue lights flashing, I pull over near an exit. The cop was actually cool, he asks if I saw him when I sped past him, No Sir I didnt, its been a long day and I just want to get home. Then he asks why I pulled over near an exit, I said " to be honest I dont get pulled over often, once I saw your lights i went to the right side of the road". He was a good cop, told me to keep it under 80 and be more cautious. not all cops are power hungry.

Bwing your wife to speak on your court date. Maybe the judge will take pity on you.
