Studio Canal and Joel Silver’s house Silver Pictures announced Monday that they intend on retelling (rebooting) Escape from New York as a trilogy of films.
The first movie is going to be a prequel that will tell the story of how New York came to be a prison. Studio Canal says they want to recreate the success of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" that told a story behind the story.

That's so cool. I always remember them talking about the 3D navigation view for the glider. There WAS no cgi, so they made a real model of the city in black, and used glow in the dark tape to line the buildings to make it looks like a computer. Originally Posted by DarkFriday
