Newcastle...Bloomberg is just trying to 'get people healthy'...he is going about it the wrong way...I would offer tax perks or cash back refunds, to people who are of healthy weight and non smokers...give people incentive...not ban shit..

No one in my neighborhood gives soda to their kids, or drinks soda themselves. they drink vitamin laced designer water, and watered down fruit juice for their kids. for a big part of NYC I'm pretty sure Big Macs are the most nutrition they get. Whenever I pass the McD on broadway, it is packed with schoolkids, semi-homeless, and the very aged. taxing Big Macs would probably force them to Cheetos and cat-food again.

New, you are a bit of a snob...I live in an upper middle class neighborhood..nobody here is on welfare....everyone pays a huge NJ property tax and has an income...but they let their kids eat shit, drink shit...how do I know?? I walk my dog every day, and see the shit they have in their recycle bin...pizza boxes, soda bottles, Tyson Mcnuggets boxes...so take your upper class snob views and bite me...and by the way, I hate frogs.

Why tax it? Make it tax deductible instead. People are entitled to some fun.

(since I live outside the US, I can say the real reasons why US economy is in the tank. 1) Insane "defence" budget. Over 50% of you money goes to play-stuff around the world. No wonder North Korea is angry at you. You have placed tons of troops on their borders. If anyone did the same to US, you would be crazy. South Korea have more money then US. Let them pay for it. 2) Insane immigration. 4 million walks into US each year. This leads to unemployment. Unemployment = more benefits but more importunely less taxes. Its impossible to create 4 million new jobs each year. And that would only cover the "new" Americans. Stop immigration for 10 year and the unemployment would be gone.

And someday we have to do something about the one 1% that owns over 90% of all wealth. Take it and pay of the dept. have to pay.
