    Frank Zappa appreciation!

Just put on "Overnight Sensation." Such an incredible album
What is the truth, what is the faithful lasting proof?
What is the central theme to this everlasting spoof?

Apostrophe and Overnight Sensation were released together on CD so it saved a guy a few bucks when switching out the vinyl to CDs.

He sure was brilliant but he could sure be an arrogant prick, too. Some of his music was so absurd that I got the impression he kinda hated his fans by releasing it

I have been updating my collection...every once in a while, you can get some used FZ cd's at the place we buy our music.

To me, it sounds as good now as when it did when I was a bit high

Yeah, not all of it was great...but, even when he was going into the classical phase, he was still a great interview, and a defender of free speech.

I recently read Zappa, a bio from Barry Miles. I guess I could read it again so I guess I dont hate him

He would compose music with a pen and paper for every instrument in a band/orchestra without touching an instrument. Then hes find musicians who could play it...just so he could here what it sounded like. Some of it was waaaaaay difficult to play but also very annoying/boring to listen too, and theyd never play it again. Never even recorded a lot of it

Big Zappa fan here. I saw him live twice. Anxiously awaiting the remasters of "Sheik Yerbouti" and "You Are What You Is" to be released. The original Rykodisc releases sound horrible and a couple songs on the CDs are edited. I hope the remastered versions are more like the vinyl.

I read somewhere that Zappa wanted to be a classical composer but he said he became a rock musician because that was where the money was.

'70s era Zappa is my favorite. Bongo Fury, Apostrophe, O N Sensation, Joes Garage. By '80ish Id lost interest. And if youve never heard Bongo Fury then your missing some killer fuckin guitar and songs

I had a Zappa dream, it had to be more then 20 years ago and I still remember it. I was outside my childhood home singing Camarillo Brillo.

What is funny fucked-the-fuck up is that FZ is a fucking genius virtuoso but guys like Kurt Cobain make "Top 10 Guitarists of All Time" lists.

I just picked up Apostrophe on vinyl recently. I have also met Frank's cousin Karl Zappa. He's the president of Bayhawk brewing.

In all fairness, Cobain himself said he was a shitty guitarist when he was alive, and was a Zappa fan. Anyway, Zappa was truly an original, it's easy to forget how unpopular speaking out against hippies/free love/total pacifism was in the 60's/early 70's music scene. Plastic People is worth listening to as much as possible, for my money.
