I am being sincere when I say good for you! I, on the other hand, hate what my job has become and count the days until I can retire. The only reason I may stay beyond 25 years is to max my pension. Depends on the miserable vs. $$$$ ratio at that point.

RIGHT??? There are people on my wife's side of the family that were always broke and living paycheck to paycheck and decided to have another kid. Their 'plan' was for her to quit her job when they had the kid because once they were on a single income, they would qualify for 'assistance'.

I almost asked for a divorce then and there. "You share blood with them??"

If you already have the pension in the bag, I would say to stick with it. Be a slackass cop. Don't be a dickhead. If they would decide to fire you, you'd still get the pension, right? Stick at it and let a whole bunch of shit slide. You just might be the guy to give a kid a break and have him realize how lucky he was and turn his life around!
