at this point in time, it's painfully obvious that howard is really just a dumbass. the only talking he does is out of his ass. all of his opinions are either made-up on the spot w/o research or stolen from someone who he thought sounded like they knew something.

I think he sometimes says things off the cuff. He's talked about how when he's seen some of his comments in print, he's not always certain he agrees with them. I'm sure that a moment's reflection on the matter would demonstrate to him the implausibility of simultaneously banning cigarettes while legalizing pot and other drugs. He would simply swap one black market for another one. Healthcare costs wouldn't go down much because most additcts would still get their tobacco. But law enforcement costs on regulating tobacco would go through the roof.

The real problem is there is nobody in the studio to call him on things like this. Robin used to be the voice of skepiticism, at least more often than she is now. But ever since her conversion to green drinks and hating the medical profession, she's too gullible. On Wednesday's show she was arguing with Benjy about pharmaceutical regulation and she mentioned some drug that's been shown to be harmless but ineffective. She argued (correctly) that it should be discontinued. But she didn't mention all the 'Natural' alternative medicines that are marketed to cure medical conditions which, though harmless, have never been shown to be effective. That's all the shit she's into.
