Clive Burr, former Iron Maiden drummer, dies at 56
British drummer had multiple sclerosis
LONDON — Clive Burr, former drummer with heavy metal icons Iron Maiden, has died. He was 56 and had multiple sclerosis.
The band says on its official website that Burr died peacefully in his sleep at his London home on Tuesday.
Band founder and bass player Steve Harris said Burr "was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out."
Born in London in 1957, Burr joined Iron Maiden in 1979 and played on the band's first three albums — Iron Maiden, Killers and The Number of the Beast. He contributed to the band's distinctive hard-driving sound on classic songs but left in 1982, before Iron Maiden became 1980s mega-stars.

Totally underated. I still have a tough time playing the 4 quick bass drum hits in the beginning drum break of The Prisoner.
I liked the drumming on Gangland, you could tell he wrote that one. Maiden did a number of shows to benefit him and also MS, class act. Up The Irons and all that.
Classic rip
Look, yea, no. It is what it is and that's you're opinion and that's fine. Answer the question, be honest...be honest. Be honest. Be honest.
never forget the first time I heard this one.
That's great that the band stepped up for him repeatedly!
Good to see some others appreciate Clive. This thread was looking very sad earlier. Up the Irons. I'm drinking some Olde English and will pour some out for Clive as I listen to the first three albums.

Prefer Nico to Clive.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
