I'm not going to argue about rescue dogs, that's just silly. But older dogs who are trained, and more laid back are perfect companions for older folks who are alone, and don't have the energy for a crazy ass puppy, or patience for house training (I should have taken my own advice )

the place I got him isn't a shelter, they rescue dogs from around the country and people here take them in as "foster pets" until they find homes. They also raise money and treat dogs whose owners dump them at vets and don't want to pay for treatment.
