The other day when I was emptying my pocket of change I found a 1940 penny. I didn't think coins that old were still circulating.
I own a chunk of fossilized wood, a few megalodon shark fossil teeth, and I've made a few pens from wood that's around 4-6000 years old. I'm trying to import some from the Ukraine that's 1500 - 3000 years old.
I have some books and postcards from the turn of the 20th century. I had some Edison wax cylinders and a phonograph to play them on, but I no longer have custody of those. I collect 78 rpm records(1910's-1950's), chalkware (1930's-1960's), Jadeite (1940's), and a lot of other stuff produced around the early and middle parts of the 20th century.
"In nonsense is strength."
Just some tools, but nothing like those coins. Those are cool. I have a hand made table saw from the old coal mines in Kentucky.
Some dude needed shit cut, and just MADE one. Stuff like that impresses me. I spent 2 weeks researching table saws before I bought mine, and this prick just said fuck it, and built it.
I also have 2 antique pistols from the late 1800's.
They're not worth much so I started restoring them a bit.

I have a Roman coin like that...bought it online for about $30.
I've been collecting coins since I was about 12. Around that time I visited my grandparents home and mentioned I collected coins and they were like "oh we have some old coins." So my grandmother brought out this box and it had U.S. silver dollars minted in the 1790's. Like some of the very first ones. Also lots of small $1 gold coins minted during the Gold Rush of the 1850's, and many other coins from the early 1800's.
Naturally I was blown away by this stuff. A few years later, my Dad tells me they sold them to some scumbag door to door asshole who paid them $600 for everything. Those silver dollars were worth several thousand dollars EACH and this was 25 years ago. My Dad didn't know what they were worth when I told him he about shit his pants. That crook got away with at least $30,000 worth of coins.
Elias and Trawr made me remember I have some old Native American arrowheads and spearheads I've found, and also some of those ancient shark teeth from a bazillion years ago from an archaeological site in college.I DID have an 1885 $5 gold coin in immacculate condition, that me and my dad found while metal detecting decades ago, but niggers stole it when they robbed my house. My favorite old thing I have now is a small Demon/Clawfoot table from my grandfather, circa 1900, and I use it for a desk at home.
