    You can either raise the minimum wage and let the employers carry the burden, or you can carry it because they're working poor on WELFARE.
    It's gonna kill jobs? Tell me how?
    It still takes X amount of people to handle the lunch rush at any fast food joint. So your burger costs .75 more? BFD.

    Some people because of their capabilities will never be more than a minimum wage employee. And if they marry a spouse with the same capabilities and have children?
    Face it, we're gonna pay for it one way or the other.
    And make minimum wage gain or reduce at the same percentage rate as inflation. Also prohibit corporations like Walmart hiring nothing but part time employees so they don't have to give them benefits like health insurance.
    There was a good story in Businessweek a few weeks ago where they interviewed a bunch of small business owners, none of them said it would put them out of business. Their opinion was if you cant afford to pay a decent wage you probably shouldn't be in business anyway.

    @SouthernListen
    to your list I'd also add some conservative bullshit idea that every pregnant woman no matter how poor or ill equipped must bring her child to term. After the baby's born nobody gives a fuck but the woman just HAS to have the child.

    i agree with every word you said in your other post.
    i dont agree with you defending a guy who merely repeats rush/hannity talking points without even knowing what they mean.
    the point is nonsense anyways, unless you want to say mitt doesnt understand business either thats why he shouldnt be the pres (because he agreed with raising min wage)

    Please tell me how? If you're going to start a business, you should have a plan, right? I mean, before you get a loan from a bank to start a business, they want to see your business plan.

    Before you even open for business, you have to make sure that you have a plan to absorb loss until you're able to turn a profit.

    In a profit and loss environment, your losses (expenses) offset your profits. If you require the assistance of employees to achieve your goals, their expenses factor into your plan. If you can't afford to pay them a living wage, your plan IS A FAILURE.

    This is why Wal-Mart hires mainly homemakers and kids and people with no education / skills.

    Great business plan there.

    Because if we left it up to the market, they'd pay their employees $1/hour, dummy.

    Looks like I'm not the only person with this point of view. Sometimes I think people disagree with my posts simply because I'm the author.

    And the quality employees would be lining up to work at the employer who pays $2/hour.
