no, it's not; it's realistic and unselfish.
i have buried everyone in my family (and many of my childhood friends) so far. it hurts each time, both to have them leave and to have to watch them slowly decay because I was taught to keep things living as long as possible using every method available. Sometimes (often) it is far kinder to let someone go, quickly and with minimal pain and suffering, than to make them linger on just because you can and because you don't want them to go. we can postpone death but why do it, if the resulting quality of life makes them wish for death? there's a lot to be said for dying with dignity and respect.
