You're a newbie so you don't understand why a majority of Howard's fan base is angry at him. I've been a listener since the late NBC era and I've seen Howard go through the changes. In a nutshell, we're angry at Howard because he has disavowed everything that made him great and earned him his once-huge following. He's become everything he once professed to hate. And to add insult to injury, he now looks down and derides anyone who still professes the opinions that he used to hold. Read his books, written during his 1990's heyday. You'll find a completely different Howard than the one on the radio today.
if you really want to know... i've been listening since '94 and still enjoyed the show right up to when artie checked out. i listened to much of 2010, but it was mostly out of habit and not having something to replace it with, since i no longer enjoyed listening. it eventually got to the point where it was actually angering me to listen. all the lies, AGT, artie no longer existing, cry-baby howard in full force, lawsuit, etc. i've only listened to segments here and there since then, usually on youtube when i read here about something interesting. aside from enjoying howard's grief (i.e. tweeted pic of beth cozy with her co-host, AGT ratings), i've gotten 0.0 pleasure out of the show in the last couple years. to fill that void, i re-listened to the sirius years and am actually just finishing up the last show of 2009 right now. i no longer find anything likable about howard. to me, he's just a greedy, backstabbing, lying, unfunny, hypocritical asshole without a single redeeming quality. even if the show had some humor left in it, i still wouldn't be able to listen to a show with a guy like that as a host. the howard stern show was an amazing thing and a big part of my life for many years. if he had just ceased to be funny or died or quit, then ok. i would remember him and the show fondly. instead, he told his fans that he doesn't need them and that he pisses on them. he turned out to be a fraud and i do hate him. this site has been the perfect refuge for this lost soul of the howard stern universe. it's funny, it's informative, there are many differing opinions but also, for many of us, one common ground. it's the perfect place to enjoy that miserable prick's undoing.
"Artie's a great guy and he's somebody I'll always fight for." Howard 12-15-09.
Photography's a joke. Anyone can be a photographer. You do your scary great pictures because you're a professional. I'll take my stupid...automatic camera...take pictures and we'll see if people can tell the difference. - HS, 2-1-02

I was a fan of his for far longer than a lot of people on this board. It was really in the last couple of years where I just said enough. I am just tired of him trying to flaunt his "beautiful" wife and multi-millionaire lifestyle, shamelessly name drop of his celebrity friends and then make fun of people who celebrity name drop, ram AGT down his fans throats when he knows most of the fans don't care, do live commercial reads in the middle of the news segment after years of saying he was above that crap, his lazy interview style where he barely reads the research and seems to want to psychoanalyze his guests, and the fact he seems to put zero effort in the show even though he only works three days a week and has 12 weeks of vacation.
I used to listen to him five days a week. During football season, I go weeks without listening to him. I listen to him during the offseason more to goof on him than to enjoy him. He is occasionally funny and/or entertaining, but his ego is way to out of control and takes himself way too seriously now.
Personally, I think he is trying to change his image to transition to a more mainstream role like the 12:30 gig on NBC, but I think all he is doing is pissing off his audience and only winning a small handful of segments of this country who didn't care about him or hate him.

This clip never happened. The tapes team have already deleted this segment from the archives and Howard's lawyers have already sent a cease and desist letter to Dawg and You Tube to remove this fraudulent piece of slander. It is clear from the recording that they used Howard, John, Robin, and Artie voice impersonators.
I listen to the shows after all the commercials are edited out and still enjoy it. Am i sick of agt talk? Of course, but i was also sick of private parts talk. Am i tired of the same questions over and over, yes, but i have been listening for over 20 years. When david spade was on recently and howard started asking him about chris farley i thought, not again, but david ended up talking about revealing more about their relationship that i found interesting. Spade also nailed it when he called howard out on how his interviewing has changed and how now he tries to project his therapy onto other people.
The thing that has done the most damage to the show is Beth. She is everything howard ridiculed his entire career. She is 100x worse then diedre and the way she flaunts his wealth is disgusting.
Howard invites hatred. It would be impolite for him not to accept it.
