New Jersey Cop accused of punching woman in front of Night Club

A cell phone video that apparently shows a New Jersey cop punching a woman in the face outside of a New Jersey nightclub has led to a police investigation.According to WPIX, the footage, which was uploaded to YouTube on March 3, shows an intense scuffle between the cop and a group of men and women outside of Club Envy in Elizabeth, N.J.
The video was posted to YouTube but has since been removed.
“The Elizabeth Police Department Internal Affairs is conducting an ongoing investigation. The officer remains on duty and the victim has not yet been identified.”

Well, it looks like she was interfering with a police officer who was attempting to arrest someone.

Are cops allowed to punch someone interfering with an arrest?

The Elizabeth crime rate is much higher than the New Jersey average crime rate and is much higher than the national average crime rate.
    Crime Index, #377

    Elizabeth, NJ 2,803.21
    New Jersey 1,239.02
    U.S. 1,776.27
The crime index value is calculated based on the data using USA.com algorithms. It is an indicator of the crime level in a region. Higher crime index value means more crime

I really feel sorry for this cop. He has to wade throught that cesspool of human waste every day to try to protect the humans and this is what he gets for trying to protect himself.

Unfortunately, a lot of the gay clubs I went to in the 90s were in the WORST parts of the state.

We were going to this one night club and it was in an industrial section of the city. I remarked to my friends, "they won't find our bodies for months."

Hmmm, from the video the whole story is hard to tell. For just interfering with an arrest? No. For physically interfering? Sure. Sometimes people just stand in your way and passively hinder you. Sometimes they are more aggressive. The same rules apply as anything else......your use of force is determined by the level of threat, circumstances known at the time, the amount of force needed to subdue a suspect or complete an arrest. Lots of variables and the jitter-cam start of this video makes it hard to see what that broad did prior to being socked in the mush.

the cop was trying to arrest someone and she got in the middle and then put hands on the officer. he did his job.

we're not seeing the whole picture here as to why the cop had to arrest the man in the first place. im gonna go with the assumption he was acting justly until proven otherwise.

dope...the cop has no way of knowing if someone's going for his gun or if he's gonna get jacked. i'd expect a cop to take out anyone touching him/her.
