I don't like Ken Burns because I think that style is too sappy and flowery for my tastes, I just don't like that.
I prefer to read history.
The musical theme in The Civil War is "The Ashokan Farewell." It's just a beautiful melody, full of melancholy and pathos. To me it evokes the overwhelming sense of waste and loss that sums up the Civil War. I can't hardly hear it without tearing up.
Every filmmaker uses music to "push" the story, as well as add emotion to scenes. It's part of the art![]()
