    In Honour of George Harrison

Exactly one year after George Harrison died, a jaw-dropping lineup of musicians gathered at London's Royal Albert Hall to honor his lifetime of work. The Concert for George featured performances by Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Ravi Shankar, Billy Preston, Dhani Harrison and many others. (The only notable absence was Bob Dylan.) Near the end of the show, Clapton lead the house band on a stunning performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." With McCartney on piano, Ringo (among many others) on drums, Preston on organ and Clapton re-creating his guitar parts from the original, it was the closest thing possible to a Beatles reunion.

George is one of my favorite musicians. In my opinion, his solo work after All Things Must Pass has been under appreciated.

George was the unsung hero of the Beatles, without him many of the songs would not have sounded as good as they do.

I like the Prince version bettererest, but anyway: I was a total John-hound for many years, but as I've aged, George has become my "Fave Rave".... very deep soul, very disciplined yet tasty musician.

Having a dead kid helps one to be a better Blues musician.

Hey, bro. I was fucked up on a lot of drugs back then, and I really don't like discussing the episode.

Well he's just good. I wish he'd shake off those weird religious things and let loose again. He's by far the best out there if he'd just do it. IMHO.

HUGE George fan. GREAT thread! Loved that Concert for George version. I honestly haven't heard a bad version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. One of my favorite versions is by Jeff Healey.
