What are these voicemails that everyone hates?

Bocchetti and this weirdo friend of arties apparently always leave artie numerous voicemails on his cellphone and he keeps doing this stupid bit where he plays them both on their own and then after that he plays them simultaneous saying that "this is what he hears in his dreams" everynight. It was lame the first time yet they keep doing it night after night. I thought last nights show was pretty good though for once.
One of the best things about last night's show was that because there were so many guests they put about an hour of the show on YouTube.
The visual side of it makes a difference for me.
I usually watch the youtube uploads and then listen to the podcast.
i can see it maybe making it a year or so. i doubt it is a long lasting show. i only watch it on TV so i dont really know what the radio situation is(ratings, how many affiliates he has, etc). Maybe if it gets decent ratings and he keeps and/or adds radio affiliates, it could last longer baring any personal artie meltdown.
The way I see it is like this: It's not an A-list show so there won't be A-list guests and I am fine with that. I was a fan of Artie's a long time before this and I will stick it out and hope nothing happens to him to end it badly. I enjoyed it a lot when Nick was there and sure it's different but it's also kind of the same. To me it's entertaining, just a comedian doing a show with a regular guy's view of news and sports, a lot of stories and a few bits while riffing with what I think is a pretty cool staff and Bocchetti and even though a lot of the guests we haven't heard of, these up and coming comedians and musicians get a rub from an established and well known guy in entertainment and who knows, maybe somebody will like something they did on there. I had never heard of Shiny Toy Guns before and normally don't like that type of music but I liked one of their songs they performed so I looked them up and checked out more.
Artie always said when the first show started that their goal was to have the new man cave 'be a hang' and have people drop by and just chill. I enjoy hearing his comedian friends on there because they have cool stories and have a good dynamic with Artie. Some shows are hit and miss like some said and some have no structure and overuse the same bits and topics and even some guests have been on a little too frequently. When he gets legitimately angry and belligerent that's a huge turn-off for me, for example Ryan Seacrest's water bottles. Maybe I'm the only one, but I like how it is for now and if it gets bad I'll stop listening, I don't blindly follow everything anybody does if it sucks. It may never be something amazing but that's cool with me, I enjoy it for the most part and the stuff that's not so great, well every other show has that too.
Honestly.. I barely listen to most of the show these days and don't even bother downloading it. The show jumped the shark as soon as they moved to the new studio and added fag music guests. Artie's an awesome dude, but the show needs a good co-host (like Jackie), and less input from the fag jews in LA.

One positive thing Ive noticed is heroin has not been mentioned at all this week I don't think, its fine to talk about drugs as subject every so often but hearing about it every 20 minutes on every show was really getting annoying.
Voicemail bit is completelyyy played out. It has the power to drain your will to live. The Brock sketches are super stale lately, or maybe its just me. The show doesn't *need* to be sports themed all the time, but there's hardly any semblance of being sports-centric at all any more. I'm biased, but the girl that led on Bochetti followed by him having her on the show - should diaf. Harsh, yes; I don't mind.
Really miss Nick. To me, his presence brought that 'something' that was exhibited on shows like Colin Quinn's "Tough Crowd", or ANYthing involving Patrice O'Neal. That something where veteran comics enhance each other by adding and supporting your bit, or dissecting and roasting you for it.
I get people that didn't like Nick for adhering to a schedule; but how easy is it to see how fukt it is with Artie at the helm calling soft breaks? --> Think of this the next time they come back from commercial for a 10 second bit and go right back to commercial. I can see the occasional situation for stretching a segment because the guest is that damn good, but...
Wish Artie well, career and health-wise. Anxious to hear any conversations post-nondisclosure agreement with Nick n Artie. It's got that "Who Shot J.R.?" vibe.

I'm liking the show a lot. Yeah there's stuff that can be improved, but overall I'm liking it. Although, I've never heard the show as a radio broadcast. I've only seen it on Directv. I can see why people would not like the radio only version as much. Artie doesn't really know how to translate a lot of things to the listener, like a pro broadcaster can. Sometimes watching it, I'm thinking, a radio listener would have know idea what's going on. Also, a lot of the humor is visual, especially with Bocchetti. I really don't mind the musical guests. Some are decent, some I FF through, but it adds something to the show. I agree with some others who said the show is better with a lot of guests. When Arite tries to fill in with stuff like those phone bits, it's definitely not as good.
Compared to the show with Nick, I think it's 1000 times better. I'd fast foward through 30% of the show with Nick there, with all the boring sports talk -- not to say that all sports talk is boring, but with Nick it was. Artie makes it more entertaining. Thank God I don't have to hear another Nick's nugget (or FF through it).

I don't have DirectTV, so the visual part is lost on me, but last night, for example, there were interminable comedy bits with Brock and the Twins, and one of the best guests of the show, John Avello, got blown off. That's an example of the weaker showrunning in the show's current incarnation.
Nice post!
I think the main difference between the show now and when Nick was running it, aside from Nick's abrasive un-entertaining personality, was that Nick seemed to think he got paid based on the number of stories covered. He was way too business-like and uptight about not only getting to things but getting off them.
It was like he had a checklist he was running down and he thought all hell would break loose if he didn't get to each item on it.
The greatest thing about the Stern show back in the day was that when they hit paydirt with a story/riff/premise they stayed with it. They could spend the better part of an hour just on one goofy story, then go back and reference it later in the "news". Artie's show isn't at that level, and he has a tendency to go on too long with something, but it's a definite and major step up from Nick's assembly-line "get 'em in/get 'em out" approach.
"I heard you're.............really....................sick" - devoted wife Beth Ostrosky, to her husband, H. Allen Stern
The Nick phase of the Nick and Artie show is over. I think Artie has been doing better lately and I agree that it translates better on DirecTV (rather then radio).
I only knew of Nick before, from Howard roasts and Artie's Afghanistan trip. But I really came to appreciate his talent on N&A show. Quick wit, funny, always brought out more laughs when Artie was telling a story. The busting balls between Nick and Artie was amazing. Nick and Artie ganging up on Dan Falato usually was laugh out loud funny.
What I really enjoyed was how Nick would interject the funniest/meanest one-liners into one of Artie's funny/mean-spirited rant's (like when Artie would really be going after Falato).
I like how Nick had no interest in getting to know fans, spoke his mind on politics, talked honestly about people, especially in show business, he did not like, was totally uncompromising in his comedy and views, did not want N&A to go down the path of being a Howard Stern Show clone (e.g., had a clear line between callers and talent on the show) and is/was a loyal employee (he was always trying to do the job Ken Kohl, etc. seemed to want him to do with show management).
Gunnar,
I am not in this world to live up to my expectations
I thought it was funny that Bobcat was on talking about 'Windy City Heat'. I recently saw the movie and then found out they have over two years of podcasts ... Funniest shit ever. I haven't bothered listening to artie for weeks now.
You broke it down precisely #Science
I mourn the loss of Nick and have to back-burner the anxious on wanting to know the scoop behind the departure. But, I DO root for the show and DVR every episode. The show is looking WAY up recently. Also, haven't cringed thinking Artie was about to pass out in a relatively long time now : D

I'm now two weeks behind and have no desire to catch up. Sorry guys, it was a fun ride while it lasted.
Listening to the show now seems like more of a chore than entertainment. I find myself hating every single music act and 2/3 of the guests. Although I love Artie, the content is just too redundant for me to care about. I'm out.
Brock is the worst. Half way through the segment on Tuesday where he was "Cleon" from prison, I found myself watching the fake Ace from KISS on youtube. That's how bad it was. Brock = ZZZZZZ. Bring back Nick.
I like Brock but in moderation. Unfortunately Artie loves to overuse and run bits right into the ground
