Court clears American rocker in fan's death at Czech concert

Court clears American rocker in fan's death at Czech concert

PRAGUE – A court acquitted on Tuesday the frontman of a U.S. heavy metal band of causing a teenage fan's death at a concert in the Czech Republic.
Lamb of God's Randy Blythe was charged in December in Prague with causing bodily harm to another person with lethal consequences. Blythe was accused of pushing 19-year-old who had climbed onto the stage during a 2010 concert at Prague's Abaton club.

The man hit the floor with his head and later died of a head injury.
Prague's Municipal court ruled Tuesday that Blythe was not guilty because what he did was not a crime, court spokeswoman Marketa Puci said.
Blythe, who had pleaded not guilty, acknowledged he pushed the teenager because the band doesn't tolerate any fans on the stage but said he was not aware of any injuries.
In its ruling, the court said it was the concert's organizers who are to blame for the accident, Puci said.
The state prosecutors, who had demanded a five-year prison term for Blythe, said they will appeal the verdict.
Blythe said Tuesday that the victim -- who cannot be named in line with Czech privacy laws while the case still is handled by courts -- was a fan of his band and he felt sorry for the loss of life.
"I had no wish to harm him. He was just a boy. I wish he was still here."
The 42-year-old musician was arrested in June when he returned to the Czech Republic for another gig, not realizing that he was being investigated in the Czech Republic. He was released five weeks later on $400,000 bail after a Prague court dismissed a prosecution request that Blythe be banned from leaving the country, fearing he wouldn't return for the trial.
The relatives of the fan, who are seeking compensation, were told by the court to file a separate case, Puci said.

No, he is responsible. However, everyone knows not to jump onto a stage during a rock concert unless you plan on being kicked off by any means necessary. Rock shows can get fucking nuts. Sadly, a girl that was on her boyfriends (or some dudes) shoulders flashed her tits to the band and an entire mob of guys went apeshit and ripped her clothes off of her like wild animals and passed her around the crowd. It was about 10 rows back so security either couldn't see or get to her, and the band didn't know what was happening. I forget what concert it was but I think it was Motley Crue.

There is no right to jump onto a stage and disturb the performance. A reasonable attempt to prevent that unlawful action would be to push the person back. The defendant could also make the case that if he failed to push one interloper away, many others would soon follow, and the performance and even his safety could be at risk. People are pushed away from performers on stage repeatedly without death or even serious injury occuring. There is no proof the defendant had any expectation of it causing any harm.

People need to grow up and realize the rest of the world isn't your babysitter. They don't have to sit back and let you run around like a monkey while mommy is away. While jumping on stage like a idiot may seem "cool" in certain circles, it's an obvious violation of the right of the performer and every paying customer there to have a show that isn't interrupted.

Only a child would expect to be able to do that and have the performer stand there while he bumps into him and screams in the mike repeatedly, then be lovingly wrapped in the arms of security and gently escorted back to his seat and given a cookie.

Had the guy acted like an adult he'd still be alive. Darwin at work.

Shit happened like that at metal concerts all the time back in the day. If a girl isn't willing to practically be gang raped then she shouldn't be up front. Some girls love it though. I saw this one chick giving blowjobs to anyone and everyone got a turn sucking her tits.

It reminds me of when I was in Vegas for the 99'/2000 new year, I was on the strip in front of the Flamingo Hilton and some girl was on a guys shoulders. She pulled up her top and a grabbing frenzy started, some guy even took the moment to diddle her nipple, my couldn't stop laughing at the fact some guy wanted to turn her on with some foreplay while 10 hands were squeezing her.
