I'm not trying to disparage these guys. I honestly want to know what they're doing up there on stage. I see them fiddling around with knobs and sliders and flipping headphones up onto their heads for about a half second before taking them off again. For all I know, these knobs aren't even plugged in and there could just be a recording playing during the entire show. I'm genuinely curious.

If you go see one of these guys in concert, what exactly are they doing on stage? Aren't they just standing up there playing recordings of the music that they've programmed a computer to play?
