well first the chart is not accurate. the standard deviation for IQ in the US is 16 points with the average as measured across US servicemen during WWII induction (which is the still current standard for IQ) such that 116 is the norm, not 115 (and in stats 1 point of a standard deviation is very significant)

second, let's just say I tested above the norm in second grade.

I work as a package delivery driver, couple years ago I had an indirect signature delivery to make. If no one is home I leave a form on the door that you simply sign and get your package the next day. No one came to the door first day so left the form. Next day, no one came to the door, previous days form still on the door but cars in the driveway had moved around. So I filled out a new form, drew a circle on the "please sign" part of it and an arrow pointing to the "please sign" and highlighted all that with a yellow highlighter to make it easy to understand. Next day, again cars had moved around and both previous forms still attached to the door. Someone came out this time and in passing I told them all they had to do was sign the form on the door. The man looked at me and said "listen, i'm not stupid and I have a 163 IQ". With a smirk I pulled the highlighted form off the door, handed it to him with my pen and told him to please sign in the highlighted part of the form that says please sign, that is right under the giant arrow pointing to the please sign part of the form. He signed it and got the package. wishing him a nice day I headed back to the truck. As I approach the truck he says "hey what you want me to do with this?" Looking back he is standing there with the first form left on the door in his hand. I told him, "you're the one with a 163 IQ, you figure it out" and left.

So that must mean my IQ is greater than 163 right?

I have tested in the 150's but do not put a lot of stock in IQ tests for a couple of reasons:
o You can learn how to take IQ tests (never mind cultural bias etc.).
o Every person I have met who felt compelled to tell me they are in Mensa, was pretty much an epic douchebag.

I would generally place social capability and having a pair of cojones well over IQ when it comes to success and ability.

you can learn how to take all the standardized tests; after awhile they get to be boring.

I have had so many very successful psychotherapists tell me that their patients who are in Mensa (or that other org that is more elitist than Mensa) are among the worst socially adjusted neurotics they treat, and every one is suicidally depressed.

Why would anyone really want to be in Mensa? it's more of a diagnosis than a status symbol, kind of like being a leper.

The truly superior intelligences would either actively deny Mensa, or test lower to insure that they remain below the radar of such organizations.
