I remember this I was seventeen.
I'm sure this thread will produce lots of posts about peace and harmony.
Carry on...
Friendship isn't about whom you have known the longest... It's about who came and never left your side.
I was set to go get my tux for the prom. My mom insisted on coming with. I'm all what is your ninety pound ass gonna do?
Maxine Waters - "No Justice, No Peace."
Maxine Waters has made quite a good living inciting violence with her stupidity. If there is a tape of the news from that night, you will see Maxine Waters with then Mayor Tom Bradley telling her constituents (Compton) and people in Los Angeles to take to the streets, and shouting "No Justice, No Peace."
When Los Angeles needed a leader and some clear minds, they got her instead. I get chills now thinking of her and that night. I just could not believe it.
Yeah, I understand what you're saying, with the whole "cooler heads prevail" thing, but another way to look at it is by first looking at our country as one based upon a model of three principles: order, liberty and equality.
Even Lincoln once said, without order, there can be no liberty/equality, or something to that effect.
These 3 principles must be in balance and when one of them is out of balance, one of the other two challenges it.
So...for example, without "equality," there is no liberty and without liberty, there will be no order.
When people's freedom is challenged; when their rights are grossly abused by "the system," you have to expect order is going to suffer.
It's what happened during the Boston Tea Party and through many, many subsequent events in American history.
We're absolutely rabid when it comes to challenging state/government authority.
The riots in Los Angeles were one of our darkest moments in American history, but that fucking sham of a trial was also a part of it. Of course if that shithead wasn't driving like an asshole in the first place, perhaps none of this would have happened, but I doubt the trial itself was an anomaly.
Shit like the rampart scandal, for example, in Los Angeles? Holy, mother-fucking GOD! Cops, planting evidence, setting up defendants...
The whole fucking city was a cluster fuck and some argue, it still is.
I still feel so bad for those people who lost their businesses and the family members of those who were hurt and/or killed as a result of the riot.
I hardly doubt Maxine Waters (by herself) contributed that much gasoline to what was already a powder keg of corruption, injustice and certain institutionalized racism.
Fucking terrible. Start to finish. Plenty of blame to go, all around.
