Question What do you think that's better... Cable TV or Satellite TV

Right now I have comcast and I'm really not to happy about what I get for the money... First thing is 1/3 of your bill goes towards sports... We don't watch sports at all and every bundle/package comcast has all have a lot of sports in it.. where Dish only has one( espn) on it's 120 channel package.. that's a big plus for us... Anyway just wanted some feed back from people who did the switch and are you happy or not with Satellite... Dish network or Direct TV

I prefer cable because I can cancel it anytime I want. With Dish I was stuck with a contract.

I've had DirecTv since '97 (or so). Their rates have been pretty consistent and I've always been happy with their service. The several times I've moved, for various reasons, I've tried cable briefly and it has blown (picture quality, menus, price, channel variety, service) so I've gone back to DirecTv. I always mount the dish myself since the company installers do what's easy for them, not necessarily what's best for me and my abode.

I installed my own dish too, years ago. And I second the picture quality comment. I know they are both digital but for some reason DirecTV's picture seems better than cablevision. We have cable right now though because of the price.

*edit* Yeah, cable has some fucked up ugly and slow menus.

Love my Direct TV---and if you don't watch sports you can save money on the packages. Dish has better technology (The Hopper) but they don't carry AMC. As a new customer you'll get The Genie for free , and if you're a Costco member you can also get a$200 gift card.

Does DirectTV get AMC? I know that "dish" doesn't, but I have no idea what that means (is that a brand?).

I have Comcast now and I'm just at my wits end with the fucking shitty storage space on the DVR and don't even get me started with how fucking bad their remote control is for fast-forwarding and rewinding through on Demand programming.

I know DirectTV gives you a shitload of storage space but (I think), like Comcast, you can only record two programs at a time and you have to be watching one of them to do that.

    This also sucks.

My only other alternative is Tivo, but that's something like $80/month on top of whichever provider you choose.

I now completely understand why people just steal programming with torrents.
