I hate being bipolar, its awesome.
We continue to have more and more generations dependent on government assistance. Each generation forgets what true freedom is like. We continue to give what was considered to be critical civil liberties over to the federal government as we are dumbed down by the corporate/government owned media. Our government experiment will run its course as all republics have. It will fail, and at some point, somewhere in the world it will be tried again.
Yes, I agree with you 100%. The funny thing is that average IQ tests always show that subsequent generations are smarter than the last. We may always test out higher, but our priorities differ. This has historically proven out to be a bad thing. There are certain ideals that we should always consider important.
well as long as the only candidates that run for office are the ones too stupid to do corruption effectively and therefore have no skeletons in their closets to be exposed, and as long as we allow the media to sensationalize everything, creating stories where none exist, eschewing investigative journalism for tabloid reporting, we're already the idiocracy.

is that the banking industry's fault? pay scientists more. increase NASA's budget; increase the NSA's funding. you want more scientists? give them an incentive to exist. which would you choose: finding a cure for cancer on $22000/yr or creating advanced investment models for $500,000 / yr?

Yes. We are there. The only issue I have is that we have the collective intelligence to break free from this problem. The problem isn't the freedoms the founding fathers gave us. The problem lies in the ever expanding government controls of our lives. This dichotomy leads to many of our perceived problems with our government.
don't you think i would rather work for the CIA, but where do they put people like me? in the basement of some building in Virginia and pay me $35k. the janitors at the pentagon get better treatment. the feds have asked me 3 times to go into govt service over the years. they wouldn't even match half current salary at the time. they wouldn't even agree to the use of a govt issued car. the govt is a shitty employer.
years ago people like me went to work for Bell Labs where they valued abstract intelligence and expertise, until the feds decided they were "too big" and made AT&T divest. Since that genius decision have you seen another transistor invented?
the public deserves the idiocracy we're getting.

once you have a generation raised under the gubmint entitlements, its a born into right & expected. they grow up watching & learning how to game the system. those of us that havent grown up that way wouldn't know where to start to get basic services if we did end up needing them. entitlements will be the end of this republic because as we found out this week, we cant cut anything from the growing expeditures without our "leaders" melting down. we should just let krugman run this train into the ground as soon as possible & be done with it.
