I did many times.

I remember my third grade teacher had a flyswatter with a smiley face on one side and a frown face on the other. She used to say if you act right it smiles at you but when you act up it frowns. she used to walk around and swat your hands.

no i went to school in the early 80s by then your parents had to sign off on the principal beating your kid
both my folks had been to catholic school so they weren't having that

I remember in middle school when my gym teacher would let us box each other in the middle of the basketball court in the gym with boxing gloves if we had a permission slip too. Those were obviously different times than now.

when i was in jr high at a (continuation school) the teachers were much more mellow because they knew if they fucked with the gang members and shit it was just not worth it

Fuck that. In my school they figured out that wooden rulers break after awhile. By 5th grade all them fuckers had metal rulers!!
