    One time I was donating blood and when I was at about half a bag, I passed out. It freaked the nurses out and they told me to never give blood again. Fine with me.

    means nothing to me, as long as they don't go hunting and poking around in there once the needle is through my skin. I have insisted they draw from on top of my hand on occasion rather than poke around for the veins, and i will never, ever consent to them doing an arterial tap unless I'm going under and they are running an A line.. Few things hurt like having a needle stuck into an artery; you want blood gas measurements? knock me out first.

    Don't bother me. I used to donate plasma all the time. Pretty used to needles. I think I'm gonna start up again. I miss having a couple hours of quiet time a week.

    NJ Red Cross threatened to report me because they decided I am a TB carrier. Their tests indicated I have elevated liver proteins in my blood which is how the Red Cross diagnoses TB. Ashkenazim Jews have naturally elevated liver proteins; it means we are of eastern European decent. I guess in North NJ they never saw a jew before?

    Question for blood/plasma donors: I've heard that after you donate, you'll be kinda sluggish for a day or two, but that when your blood level rises again you'll get a boost from the fresh blood cells your body produces... Any truth to that? The last part.
