My wife taught at a Catholic school. We've been around a lot of priests and nuns. My general opinion is that most people that decide to go into that life are a kinda weird in the first place. There's the celibacy, the vow of poverty, you sort of disassociate yourself from your former life. Just to agree to that in the first place takes a "special" person. The ones we knew were generally misfits. I've known a couple of priests who were really great people. Dedicated to their job etc. Neither of them stayed in the church very long because they were "normal."
