I have a question and this is probably a good thread to discuss it. I was on one of these sites on and off. Do people not have phone conversations anymore? Why are there those that insist on only texting? I'm not even talking about mixing it up with texting and phone conversations. I mean just texting for weeks on end without ever having an initial phone conversation. And yes, I have suggested "Why don't you just call?" of "I'm going to be driving--should I just call you?" Are people really that socially retarded these days?

Also, one such text-loving person thought it would be cute to send me a picture of his bare legs down to his feet as he was soaking in a bathtub. He made the effort to take the picture as high up his legs as possible without showing anything. Yes, I get it; you are naked. I wrote back "I really didn't need to see that." To which he replied that he was just trying to be funny and he didn't show anything obscene. I know he didn't. It was just tacky and annoying. If he isn't comfortable enough to call and have a phone conversation why would I find him sitting naked in a bathtub entertaining?

It seems that some men are more comfortable texting or emailing since they have time to choose their words better (and edit when needed). For the most part, men really don't want to have long conversations. To them, a quick text shows they want to be in communication and are thinking of you.

I feel really old saying this but maybe young people text in lieu of meeting or talking on the phone. Are you pretty young? Also I think social retardation is a major factor.

Thank you; I was starting to think maybe I was being prudish. I don't think I am; after all, I've seen things right here on this site itself that were worse than wet, hairy legs. And I'm sure I found most of them pretty funny. But I have different standards of what is acceptable to me here as opposed to other aspects of my life.

I am by no means pretty young any more and for that matter, neither are these guys. I can definately see social retardation being a factor that plays into this. I had one guy ask me in a text what I was looking for in a relationship. Really; come on. I couldn't see standing in the middle of a store typing all my hopes and dreams into a multi-paragraph message using tiny, tiny letters on an itsy bitsy keyboard.
