Howard and Trent Reznor (NIN) pet peeve

Most won't care about this, but this has been an annoyance of mine for a while...

Every time Fred plays a NIN song coming out of break since the end of the 90's, usually "Closer", Howard ALWAYS ALWAYS says "Whatever happened to that guy?" and goes on how great he was, basing his entire knowledge on one song that came out in 1994 "Closer"... and maybe he saw the 1994 Woodstock footage?

So recently Howard gave sh*t to JD about picking "March of the Pigs" on his playlist show, and told him he should have played one of their more popular songs (referencing "Closer" again). Dude, STFU up already, move on or get better informed. NIN had 5 albums after that friggin' album, and Trent did a couple of soundtracks and formed a side project, "How To Destroy Angels", since then. Just because JD didn't gather clips of any of it for you or the record company didn't send you a promo, doesn't mean any of it doesn't exist or that Trent fell off the face of the Earth. It sounds more like YOU fell off the face of the Earth.

    Hey thanks for reading.

I was always annoyed by how oblivious he was to anything that wasn't directly mainstream. NIN had a few hit albums after that. Yet, still he's oblivious. In my opinion, some of his best and most accessible work was some of his more recent stuff. Stern is definitely a completely out of touch, old man.

Yeah this whole "what happened to that guy" with nin irritates me. Maybe Trent should do dancing with the stars so Howard can say Trent is making a comeback.

"The Downward Spiral" was their big cash-in album--every douchebag hipster and poseur bought it and claimed it was better than it was--in truth really just industrial-lite.

NIN is, was, and will always be a T-shirt band. Same as Maiden. I do give Trent credit for being a marketing genius, however.

Reznor even covered a Led Zeppelin song, which is a move that usually grabs Howard's attention, and still it goes unnoticed, ha!

Speaking of Zeppelin, I cringe whenever Fred plays a Zep tune coming back from break, because that means Howard will definitely go on his canned rant about "Robert Plant looks old now and he used to look good." Every. Damn. Time. Oh yeah and ruin the song by shrieking over top of it with heavy reverb effect.

I love NIN and have never taken Howard's tastes in anything seriously.

This is the guy who refuses to have on Jack White while contantly praising maroon 5 and train.

Stern's problem with Reznor is that he is basically the only rockstar from the 90s (other than Kurt Cobain) whom never appeared on Stern's show. Back then literally every rock star at some point paid a visit to Howard as he was the biggest star on the biggest rock station in the country. If the didn't Stern took it as an insult

I don't think Howard even knows the title of a NIN song other than Closer. Nothing new, talking about things he has no clue about..
