During the Joan Rivers interview she mentioned British sketch comedy Little Britain to Coward. His reply, "Is it funny? I'm one of those few people who never liked Monty Python. I don't get it."


This coming from a guy who did endless unfunny 'I Love Lucy' bits on his radio show.

obviously he has no taste or understanding of what is funny. he's been proving that almost every day for the past 5 years.

Holy Grail is an all time classic. Right up there with Blazing Saddles, Clue, Galaxy Quest, and the other great comedy parodies. Life of Brian is great as well. But almost everything else Monty Python is awful. Their television show is woefully hit or miss with mostly misses. Most people say "I love Monty Python". Then you ask what they've seen and all they've seen is Holy Grail. That's it.

MP was so far ahead of its time that 50 years later you can play their routines and its guaranteed standing ovations from people who were too young to watch them originally. air a comedy from the 1960s today and we might laugh at it because it's so campy but not because its funny.

years ago I met John Cleese at the Sharper Image store on Madison Ave. He walked into the store, everyone recognized him. He goes to the salesgirl and says "Hello I'd like to buy a radio" and the whole store starts giggling. The man has more funny in what's left of his hair than most comedians today can hope to have during their entire lives.

Every movie, every episode of every tv show they've ever made, uncut. most people who followed them know the dead parrot, or the lumberjack, or I'd like to have an argument, but their funniest skit for me is something called the Naughty Vicar.

I liked the Ministry of Funny Walks, The Bishop, Lemming of the BDA (British Dental Association), and of course, "wink wink nudge nudge, say no more!"

I remember as a 12 yr old wacking it to that hot blonde, Carol Cleveland, they'd have on the show as well!

I never cared for Monty Python, but I think A Fish Called Wanda is one of the best comedies ever made

I liked Monty Python and our local PBS station would show some of the episodes. It had actual writing, actual stories, not snippets of unfunny setups that go nowhere, which is what Stern has done for 35 yrs. If anyone can sit through Private Parts and not forget it's on and wander into another room or go to the kitchen and forget its on, let me know. That was the most unfunny borefest and I have no recollection it was ever in theaters. I saw it on TV yrs ago and couldn't believe how bad it was, not to mention the crappy filming and zero production value and Howard with a million different wigs was just pathetic playing himself through the yrs.

Not a big fan of British humor but I really loved most of their stuff (especially thier movies). Cleese was by far the most talanted of the lot. If you never saw his sitcom Fawlty Towers you should do yourself a favor and watch some old episodes. It was nothing short of brilliant and hysterical to boot.

I loved Fawlty Towers - oh, but it can't compare to Homeless Jeopardy or Robin doing a Bret Somers impersonation, or Howard doing his Kennedy impersonation. No wonder he has no concept of funny, especially since he married a giant stupid woman with a lazy eye and monster mouth with huge teeth, and can't see the humor in that with his endless Playboy evaluations where they obsess over a woman pointing out all her physical faults and he marries the geek of all time with a fat ass and botched implants.
