    Tomorrow is my first day at my first "real" job

    The start of my career so to speak.

    I'm excited and also kinda nervous.
    My name was supposed to be French fries with mayo but I was drunk when I signed up.

    first day is the worst, we've all been there. it gets easier every day, keep that in mind.
    first 6 months sets the precedent, bust your fookin ass, first one in, last one out, show them long hours & willing to help. be nice/personable to everyone. your boss will notice. after that you can do no wrong & you will soon be on cruise control like everyone else.

    This may sound cruel, but I wish someone told me when I was starting out: WATCH OUT for secretaries/underlings. Don't interact with them much. I've had two friends fired b/c some secretary decided she doesn't like them and sabotaged them. Of course you can't IGNORE them completely, but keep your distance as much as possible.

    my first day they put me at a desk with the afternoon sun at my back: i fell asleep by 2pm. must not have been a big deal because I'm still there (different office though) 20 yrs later.
