first day is the worst, we've all been there. it gets easier every day, keep that in mind.
first 6 months sets the precedent, bust your fookin ass, first one in, last one out, show them long hours & willing to help. be nice/personable to everyone. your boss will notice. after that you can do no wrong & you will soon be on cruise control like everyone else.

my first day they put me at a desk with the afternoon sun at my back: i fell asleep by 2pm. must not have been a big deal because I'm still there (different office though) 20 yrs later.

i'm told i'm not normal though: i get things done that others swear cannot be done because i'm friends with every little person in the company: i like to talk to people and i treat everyone as though they matter. i have lots of friends in low places and its the low places that actually make things happen.

btw, remember Human Resources is not your friend because you are not human to them. Human Resources exists to insure that the company does not get sued or criminally charged for violating local labor laws,
