This show opening is just interminable. It has nothing to do with the movies. It has nothing to do with the Oscars. It’s just an incredibly annoying self-indulgence on the part of MacFarlane and show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron who have many musicals on their resumes.

Makes ZERO difference. When you work as a technical artist the only things that matter are demo reels and footage of your work. I hire 3D modelers and CGI artists constantly and the only thing I look for is what they've done. Not what some old liberal hacks from Hollywood have judged is good or not. Most awards are handed out for political or nepotistic reason anyways.

I don't care if you worked on the lamest fucking abortion of a film or TV show. If your work was good on the technical side then you're hired.

Interesting to know. I always figured those winners would get the most mileage out of their awards.

Nope. Talent and familiarity are what people most want. You work on a film like Dawn of the Dead doing zombie makeup? Well you'll get a job on The Walking Dead doing zombie makeup well before someone with a million Oscars who has never done zombie makeup will get. Technical workers are all about previous work experience and not lame garbage like awards.

The only awards that matter for getting more gigs are the biggest most hyped up awards. Writing, directing, acting, and so on. Because those raise your profile and mean more money for you and more money for films you work on. You cast an Oscar winning actress and they put that shit in the trailers. "Starring Academy Award winning actress blah blah blah". They'll even put it if you lose...."Starring Academy Award nominee blah blah".
