Considering Bernstein was on Nick's last show, I tend to believe the rumor.
What, is she the queen of the fucking nile? Why would she have so much pull with Direct TV?

I'm inclined to believe it just wasn't working out with Artie/Nick and the higher ups decided to go with the bigger star.

What did Nick ever do to you guys? So, he is on longer on the show - that does not mean he did any harm to Artie. i don't get it. Educate me. Please.
I'll be completely honest- I barely listened to the show when he was on. I'm not very familiar with his standup but from what I heard of NickandArtie it seemed like he was kind of a downer; crow-barring in political opinions and being generally incomprehensible. I could tell he was throwing out punchlines but his weird voice made him hard to understand (and no it's not a Boston thing cause I've met plenty of people from there and could understand them fine). I'm sure he has his niche in comedy but he didn't seem to do it for me as a host and I don't think he worked on a national level.

And I am an Artie fan boy. I like him, I want to see him do well and I don't think he needs to be on the HSS to be funny. There's been plenty of moments of the new show that I really enjoyed (although seeing him QUITE POSSIBLY STONED in that Dice interview was really depressing).

tl;dr I'm sure Nick has a following but I don't think he worked as a host, no disrespect to him/his fans

Nick was terrible at radio. He was in over his head, didn't appreciate the opportunity given to him, and basically self-destructed.

He's less employable than a morbidly obese heroin addict. That simple fact is funny no matter who you ask. He was a cranky old spray-tanned fart who incessantly crow-barred his unfunny political views/opinions/"observations" into what was supposed to be a sports-comedy show.

I'll give you one tiny example that sums up the whole thing in a nutshell:

Nick, given the way he acted and reacted to them, thought his "stories" about his playing days in Maine were funnier/more entertaining than Artie's stories from his Stern show days. He'd bring up his days playing football at Maine once or twice a week, but as soon as Artie even mentioned Stern, the hairs on the back of Nick's neck would stand up and he would immediately get irritated.

And it's the Nick-lovers that bring about the criticisms of Nick here. If they would stfu so would we. But since the only way to really defend/go to bat for Nick involves a lot of bullshit, it makes for a nice, easy target.

He made himself unlikeable. Nobody had it in for him, and nobody got him fired but himself.

    And Bonnie Bernstein.

Nick is/was hilarious and there are only two kinds of people that don't like him

    1. Rabid leftists (the kind that still talk about him, totally unprovoked, months after he's gone from show)

    2. People who can't understand a joke unless it ends in a fart noise being made by a mongoloid junkie

Yes, his comedy was too complicated. I actually thought he was funny when he wasn't being a complete cunt, but I don't think any of his jokes were going over any ones heads.

It's really too bad it didn't work out. I'm one of the few who didn't know much about either guy before they filled in for Tony Bruno that one time, and that was it - I was sold on their new show. They were great together and really raised each other's game on the best nights. It was pretty clear that Nick often steered the show but Artie's enthusiasm and anecdotes (Saving Private Ryan - the Sandwich Story) were priceless.

Unfortunately, when Jody MacDonald was filling in last week, he said that Artie has little interest in discussing current sports and is more interested in telling stories from his youth, etc., which is too bad...Artie is a very, very entertaining guy but he sounds so much rougher than just a year ago and I'm starting to get a bad feeling we're going to be hearing some of the same stories over and over. The show could use a dose of Nick's professionalism and discipline - with a paper bag over some of the more extreme political stuff.

Anyhow, really appreciate all the folks who threw all the old episodes up for downloading...Thanks again.

Wow I had never heard that one-that Bonnie bitched to Driect TV and that's why Nick got the boot. What did Nick say that offended Bonnie Bernstein? Was it just the fight in general? I would tend to actually believe that too now that you say.

Nick was on Opie and Anthony this morning, and I must say, he had me laughing.

Also, at the end of the interview they were joking back and forth. Nick said "I have to get back in the saddle" and O&A started to laugh, and stated "One day we'll be able to ask the real questions"

There's certainly a gag order in place that Nick can't talk about what happened.

of course there is a gag order. if he speaks on it, he doesn't get all his contact money. sweet gig for nick, gets paid to not do a radio show. Artie has to do all the hard work.

Very interesting hearing that part of Nick on O&A today. Sounds like there is a lot more to the story.

The end of the interview is at 2:10:22

hes talking about an upcoming gig hosting a comedy show "Gotham Live",

Nick: "Gotta get back in the saddle, so.."
Anthony: yeah, Apparently! ::nick laughing:: 'love to hear that story. : one of these days.
Opie: someday we'll hear that story
    Nick: You will
Opie: someday we'll ask the questions
    Anthony: all the right questions
nick: yeah Exactly. Well, you guys know.
Opie: but We respect Nick, and when hes ready to talk ya'know we're here or whatever
Nick: I get nervous around you guys, youve been in radio so long you see right through all this shit
    Anthony: oh Please
Opie: I can't wait to hear, I guarantee we're gonna be relating to a bunch of stuff
Anthony: like "oh that! oh they pulled that!" opie "i remember that move"
Nick: No, its nothin.. Exactly. its nothing you guys havent..uhh..but..uh..its a little more complicated so
    Anthony: dont doubt it
Jimmy: yeah but, sex with a 5 year old on the air?
    ::laughter ensues::

To me when Nick says "alright fellas, thanks for letting me..." Opies response "oh, right on nick" sounds surprised and disappointed that nick wants to go early.
