Well, a city rescue (APL) would have nominal fees $50-$75 or so to adopt because they are subsidized by tax money. The breed rescues are misleading in a way because you figure a rescue should be free or just about. I looked at it like a donation......the rescue I dealt with was fantastic. Often times they took in dogs because the owners have 'em up due to medical issues so the agency/foster has to cover those expenses out of pocket. Stuff like that.

Find another rescue or go to breeder if you are in a rush. You gotta do your research either way.....don't let it get to you. Check out some forums about the super secret breed you are looking for and ask some advice.

I don't mind paying the money. I'm just kinda pissed/disappointed about the misleading shit on the rescue websites.
    thanks

As you've discovered, "rescue" orgs are usually scams and/or run by insane people. Find a good breeder or go to a govt. shelter and get the dog you want.

I'm all for adopting but keep in mind that there are frequently behavioral issues involved... for instance my 33 lb cat has to have his ass wiped for him (which he enjoys WAY too much).
He also will shit almost anywhere that could be loosely construed as having "litter" I.E. legos, potted plants etc. Also a keep in mind a 33 lb cat shits a large ass pile. My Rat Terrier came to us with numerous neurotic issues requiring medication and a behaviorist... neither of which are cheap.

I'd opt for as young of an animal as possible if you can and DON'T adopt unless you can commit to whatever warts your new animal comes with. If you can't hang with undoing years of abuse/neglect/poor training than I'd opt for a puppy. Which, BTW, are easy for shelters to peddle. NOBODY wants the problem child (I kinda have a soft spot for them, tho).
