Actor Forest Whitaker gets stopped and frisked leaving Morningside Heights deli

I did a search and couldn't believe no one else created a thread about this.

According to the Oscar-winner's publicist, Whitaker was stopped as he was leaving the store and accused of stealing. On Saturday, employees who worked at the store denied the incident happened.

According to his publicist, Forest Whitaker was stopped and patted down by an employee at the Milano Market who accused him of stealing.
Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker’s visit to a Morningside Heights gourmet deli came with a side order of stop and frisk.


The “Bird” star was accused of shoplifting and patted down Friday around lunchtime by an overzealous employee at the Milano Market, according to Whitaker’s publicist. The encounter was confirmed by a store employee....

Yeah, that's what gives me pause about this. She established the precedent of celebrity shoplifters.

And anyway, shoplifting is rarely about whether the person can afford it or not. Usually it's a compulsion. And with teenagers, it's about testing boundaries, peer pressure, immaturity, etc., but stories like Gary Dell A'Bate's "schvoogie buzzer" also make me think there's an element of racism in a lot of these accused-shoplifting stories.

I don't think it's a big deal that they stopped him. If I was stopped, I'd comply with the frisk/check, but if it happened to me regularly, I'd start to get pissed.

The Last King Of Scotland....I think....Very entertaining; I remember when Garret Morris used to do Idi Amin on the old SNL show sometimes.
