I dunno if any of you have been following the huge horse meat scandal in Europe right now. But in a nutshell seems a fuck of a lot of products in all the supermarkets, (see: hamburgers, lasagna, pizzas, anything with beef product) .. and used by a bazillion caterers, in school lunches, hospital meals and in restaurants across the EU were actually Mr. Ed and not beef.

Even a famous steakhouse was busted..

Amsterdam steakhouse Piet de Leeuw has been selling horse fillets as beef for 63 years, owner Loek van Thiel admitted to the Parool on Friday.

Anyhow... they have had to do DNA testing to figure the entire mess out and it seems Romanian gangsters sold to Irish, Cypriot and French suppliers who then shipped the horse meat elsewhere to be relabeled as 100% beef and then shipped the fake stuff off to many food manufacturers. The story I just read is the scam involves 28 firms in 13 different countries. (It's cuz horse meat costs a fraction of what beef does.)

There's also been reports of donkey meat getting into the food supply too.
