Family Day - Canada

Family Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of February except in BC where it's the 2nd Monday of February.

In 2013 Family Day is Feb 18 (Feb 11 in BC)

Family Day is not a national statutory holiday, it is only observed in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and as of 2013 also in British Columbia, however, two other provinces have holidays in February: In PEI Islander Day (new since 2009) is celebrated on the 2nd Monday in February and in Manitoba the 3rd Monday in February is the Louis Riel Day holiday.

getting Family Day recognized in Ontario was the only good thing Dalton ever did for us.

However, this holiday does not necessarily add to the number of holidays Ontarians receive, as employers can substitute any non-statutory holidays that employees may already be receiving in lieu of this day. Many employers have substituted the popular Civic Holiday, which falls on the first Monday in August. Although the Civic Holiday is enjoyed by millions every year, it is not public (statutory), and workers may have to choose one holiday or the other, based on their contract, union negotiations, service requirements, etc.
