A small segment of the general populations liked them, unlike all the other bands listed who were way more universally accepted

Simply put, 9 out of ten people either dislike the Dead or never heard the music. It was only a smaller amount of passionate fans. Therefore not overrated. Am I making sense.

Springsteen was a much bigger success in terms of dollars I think, I mean they play a lot of his songs on the radio. But yeah, thanks for articulating my point. A lot of people have heard of the Grateful Dead but not ever heard a song.
