    O & A are pretty good interviewers

Currently going through YouTube and listening to O & A interviews after listening to the recent Quentin Tarantino interview

Very refreshing after listening to Howards interview

they don't harp on sensitive personal issues such as foot fetishes and being abandoned by a father

I think im becoming a fan

O&A are not the best interviewers but you definitely get a better interview than with Howard. Ever since Howard started going to therapy he asks the same old shit, "Did your parents hate that you became a comedian?" "Did you hate your father?" "Do you hate your mother?"

    Same old shit questions.

They use the old howard style of interview (before it turned into a therapy session) where they just have a conversation with the guest and every now and again question them on their project/plug.

I think interviewing probably isn't all that difficult.

Agreed. Especially when O & A have perfected the 'hangout' radio style, as Opie talked about briefly on Joe Rogans podcast, it's an easy win for them. I believe the format is so strong that they can get at least some good thoughts and story out of every guest, and the flow encourages great entertainment for people in the key demographic. I can't honestly remember at the top of my head an O&A interview that wasn't entertaining or having at least some redeeming quality. If the interview goes bad with the guest locking up emotionally or leaving, it makes for priceless uncomfortable radio (Try the Paris Hilton or the George Wendt one, the last one's gonna hurt). In every which way, everybody wins.

What I love most about the style is that O&A is seldom scripted - spontaneous humor and questions adds a great flavour to the mix. When Howard is fed a ton of lines he doesn't understand and he tries to belittle his funny guests, it's so cringeworthy that I turn the channel. Gregg tony and jim is pretty up to date on pop culture and they act like men do. Even though their knowledge of finer arts is limited, it doesn't matter when they ask real questions and actively responds to the guests' answers. Norton does his research and is somewhat an artist/actor, so he relates to creativity and the challenges that come with it, which makes for great questions (Geoffrey Rush and Bryan Cranston).

There was a time they were brutal and bullying towards bad guests and phoners (Google cringe + o&a, my favs are Linda Blair and one man star wars), but they have gotten better guests and their booker, Roland, does a cracking job. They seldom belittle their guests or ask faux pas questions. From 2008-2012 I listened to Howard and great gaming podcasts such as 1up yours and bombcast. Their magic is gone, even old O&A beats the living shit out of them. I don't want them to end the show in October 2014, but chances are they do.

Jim Norton is the best interviewer. He's the one who bothers with reading the books before people come in. O&A don't do that and Stern could give less than a shit about who he is interviewing and relies on his team to give him bits to ask the person about.

could Howard do an hour interview with Ken Burns without asking him about getting laid, money, or personal issues? I prefer intelligent radio.
