Artie smoking a cig in the kitchen during the first live look in, he eats at the table - he has certainly taken over the show
Artie talked about selling out universal city walk - I was there, man that was a great crazy show. The crowd was just awful to all the other acts which were pretty good themselves nick, fitz, rev bob, trying to think who else I'm sure matarese - I remember Fitzsimmons being the only one that could control it by being his little tough guy charachter. man that was a fun show, I can only imagine how much booze they sold that night
Yup just watched the replay. He usually doesn't "use" til around the half way point or top of the 2nd hour but he started out wrecked from the gate tonight. A lot of tells from him during the live commercial look ins. Seems like he was sleep walking thru the entire show. The pressure must really be getting to him..had to constantly look at his notes to remember everyone's name, he really looked "dazed & confused" & got nasty with poor Bocchetti a couple of times. Christ I hate to say it but I don't see this show lasting much longer. He looks worse & worse every night..

Yeah i feel bad for him. It wasn't even good tv because of how awkward it was to watch it. I'd think that it was so blatant tonight that someone will talk to him but I'm sure that won't do much good. We'll see I guess. Also, what was with the breaks tonight? They seemed to consistently be every few minutes/ Was falato just trying to get artie through the show or something with minimal talking?
Could be. I noticed lately they cut to commercial or switch the camera to someone else whenever Artie starts scratching all over, rubbing his face or keeps his eyes shut too long..
I think there's a real reason Mike is so worried about him and constantly leaves those long rambling reinforcing messages, and it ain't for comedic purposes..![]()
I must say, when he was dressing down Dan, it really did sound like he was wrecked. Though, watching the videos this morning (atleast the Norton parts) IMO he looked like he always does.
I think I'm just going to enjoy the show no matter how long it lasts.
I think Arm's a solid caller--and he knows how to space out his calls. But if he's not even getting on hold, that means they're not even considering taking any calls, which sucks for this type of radio show. Some of the best bits on Stern happened with callers added outside content. Especially when Stern would go on and on about whatever was gnawing at him like those fucking endless "merger" diatribes.
I don't think Artie does ANY show prep other than knowing who's going to be on 5 minutes before they get on, and eventually that shit will catch up to him. The one show I heard last week, the first 40 minutes were with Brent, Dan, and Bochetti, and really not even worth hearing. He can't freewheel and just let fly all the time because if there's one thing Artie does not have is the ability to self-edit. He beats bits to death, like most comics.
That being said, he also may be under directives NOT to take calls, but I seriously doubt it.
I saw Fruity Shane messing with the call computer, looked like he restarted it, might not have been working. Who cares, norton was there for an hour and a half

Looks like one show with Artie off his game gave some people ammunition. I do agree he seemed really unprepared for the show, but I'd take a show like this any day over the Nick and Artie Show. The longer Nick's gone the more I appreciate Artie's value to the show.

That was a great show and tremendous radio appearance by Danny. I've always thought he was a great actor, but hearing him on that show made me love him as a person.
Last night's show was cool. I don't know what people are complaining about. I listened today at work and enjoyed it....![]()

I noticed him getting real frustrated with Bocchetti too. It was like when you lose your patience with someone over time and then it all starts to come out all at once. I thought this show was extremely awkward! The whole segment with Matisyahu, you could just see how uncomfortable Artie was making him. He didn't know how to pronounce his name which had to make it a little weird to start his muscial performance. But then the whole "Jewish Rapper" part seemed to make Matis and his band really uncomfortable. And Dan as well. Talk about overkill. That whole thing was something that could have been addressed off air and defintely shouldn't have been as drug out as Artie made it. Even him forgetting his co-host name over and over and over again was awkward. He tried to play it off jokingly but I think he honestly kept forgetting his name and tried to play it off. I know he's not the most professional guy but you would think someone would make sure he knows and can pronounce his guests and musical guests in the break right before they are about to be announced. It just looks bad when he was talkin up his musical guest and everything and then pronounces his name wrong and has to ask Matisyahu how to say his name right before he's set to go on live radio. Anyone else agree?

Yeah I hear you. I don't get the tv show so I don't get the visual reactions. It's not as obvious. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell how much of it is him joking around, or really not knowing what's going on, or simply not giving a damn. I get the impression it's pretty much all of the above, with some stress of running your own show, and being high, mixed in. Then you throw in his emotional and psychological issues....it's a miracle he's able to do it. It's actually a testament to his wit, talent, and craftiness, that he is able to pull off this trick for this long with all this stacked against him. Every person just uses what they have to get by. Artie is no exception. He is lacking in areas, but in others, he is able to find a way to gain certain advantages, as he goes through life.
