I do not think I would underestimate Artie's ability to make this work.

I think the DirectTV guys have to listen to Artie and be willing to take what they may, initially, perceive as risk.

Give Artie some time and leeway to make a show "framework" that he can be comfortable in for significant periods of time.

Give The Artie Show, at least Artie, more time off if he needs it.

Get real music talent on the show. The kid tonight sounds good, the rapper a few weeks back was good, one or two of the NOLA music acts were OK.

How about all those N.E. acoustic/electric/folk/rap acts within a 150 miles of studio?

I tried to call in on Norton with a Patrice O'Neal question about him pissing off Spike Lee, and sing Lita Ford with dawgs shoutouts. I was also going to ask him about living in the same bldg as Fred Norris and Opie, and possibly the Wigward gag order if I had time. I called 5x and the second Norton popped on, and it rang endlessly with no pick up.

They didn't take a single listener call tonight if you're keeping score at home. And this is probably par the course 3 out of 5 shows a week (at least) post Nick. They're asleep at the wheel again phone wise tonight. I got the incessant ringing into a busy over and over.

My listener and caller patience is starting to wear thin with Artie and his tedious format of fixating on Union NJ, and calling Bochetti as well as the Canavans stupid different ways for 3 hours biting off Howard. But what I REALLY hate is the crowbarred hipster music bullshit to these shows which completely slam the brakes on every fucking show!

I agree. Music is def worst part of the show-either get decent bands or don't do it at all. What theyre doing now is embarrassing. Worst part - how they made Nick and Artie(and now just Artie) applaud after performance and talk about how great the band was and how lucky they are to get all of these "great" bands.
They prob need to bring in a permanent co-host w/ Artie who is also a comedian(*cough Nick D cough*) so there is more original content each night, not just endless Bocchetti can't read and is weird bits

...seems like your more of a fan of your own calls then a fan of the show, and your main concern is getting air time........if you dont like the show why even bother calling in?

norton was on tonight and he was awesome.should they have stopped their banter to take your call?i like the bocchetti bits and if you listened to the show tonight,there was no mention of the canavans at all which was fucking awesome.

guitar soundstage is a major sponsor for the show so as per the contractual obligation, acts have to get on.

I remember the other night he blew off Rod from Bayside's pranks to get to some tedious twins bullshit, and if you say you weren't irritated by that I have a hard time believing that.

The music is forced hipster mediocrity at best, and is shit 80% of the time probably losing listener after listener with each performance.

And I don't care WTF his politics were, I'm very much in the Nick camp, and the show flowed much better when he steered the ship.

Artie's not producing the show. He's just hosting it. I think basically all of these choices, Artie has some say, but the final decision is up to DirecTV.

I don't agree about the show flowing better with Nick. I liked Nick, but he was very poor at making transitions, or just making a relaxed, comfortable vibe for the show. I have to admit I'm surprised at Artie's hosting ability. He has taken on the role and seems quite capable, much more so than I expected.

I certainly agree about the music. They could be more selective, and just have bands once a week or something. Having a band every night makes me think they want to turn this into a full-on TV show (talk show/tonight show format) at some point. Definitely, their focus does not really seem to be on radio, but more on tv now.

i hear you...but...the shows the show.were 30 days into the artie lange show and arties extending segments with guest and because of that they are forced to sometimes do 30 second segments announcing whos next up and quick to get their commercials in.its more free flowing,less micro managed and guests are getting way much more time to promote and banter and thats a good thing. whereas with nick itd be one segment and out, so if they arent taking calls no need to go off on a tangent about everything that you feels sucks about the program.what you may detest others might like right?........if they get to calls they get to calls.calls are filler.im not waiting on calls for show content.....and not once did i get the vibe arties biting stern. by that logic every radio show or podcast where colleagues get on each other on air for lack of professionalism or ball busting is a ripoff of stern?i dont think so....i know you want to get on air and feel your calls can brings something and we here know they do, but they might not feel that way or they dont have the time, so no need to get upset and start bashing the program is all im sayin.....if you dont like the show why bother even calling in right?...........we have no creative control over arties show.but what i can control is if i like it and if i want to listen...and i do.
