Sleep Paralysis..had an episode last night

Yeah it was my first experience and it really does scare the hell out of you. You don't know if you are dying in your sleep or not.

Yea the first few times it scared the shit out of me because i tried so hard to wake up and move but i couldn't but when it kept happening i learned to keep calm and you can usually fall right back asleep or snap out of it. It really is one of the most fucked up things ive ever been through im glad it doesnt happen to me any more

Freaked me the fuck out. I was awake but could not move a muscle. I live alone so no one was there to shake me out of it. I tried to call out for Falco but nothing worked, couldn't move a thing or make a sound. It lasted about a minute or so and I eventually just relaxed and went back to sleep. Woke up normally shortly after and grabbed my phone to google what the fuck that shit was all about. Turns out it's more common than I could even imagine.

Different cultural and religious beliefs attribute this natural phenomenon to alien visitations or demonic or spiritual visits. I saw no apparitions or anything of the sort, just kinda freaked me the fuck out that I was conscious but unable to move or make a sound.

And no its not AIDS!!!

Hmmmm, looks like the image I linked no workee.....it was an alien from the original Star Trek show.... Later my nightmare/sleep paralysis morphed into a shadow at the window, and that went on for years until I was able to confront it using Lucid Dreaming techniques, which is REALLY difficult.

In the first case, I was like 3 or 4 and Star Trek was a current TV show I liked, and that particular alien scared me most, so I think it's logical that I projected it into a nightmare. Possibly that instance, and definitely the later "shadow" figures I almost certainly attribute to several instances IRL where we had "Peeping Toms" around at night. Very freaky notion, some people used to go around at night looking into peoples' windows, I guess because there was no interwebs to get their perv on. I wonder if it's still common????

I would think so; nothing much has changed about people in the past few thousand years

I remember as a kid I would stare at the wallpaper until it looked like it was moving; it was also lucid dreaming, but it felt like I was still awake, and the little toy soldiers were marching; the cannons were firing; it was quite surreal.

I think we lose some of that childlike wonder of the world as we age

Happened to me after I had sniffed a bag or two of dope. Thought people were in the room but I couldn't see them or move to look for them. Very scary.
Happened another time a couple weeks later after doing some dope but there was a girl in the bed so I felt safer/ assumed it was her moving around or would wake me up if there was danger. That time I just tried to get back to sleep.
