Obama: Job of debt reduction nearly done

I'm glad that the debt worries are behind us.

“Over the last few years, Democrats and Republicans have come together and cut our deficit [over the next decade] by more than $2.5 trillion through a balanced mix of spending cuts and higher tax rates for the wealthiest Americans. That’s more than halfway towards the $4 trillion in deficit reduction that economists and elected officials from both parties say we need to stabilize our debt,”

    The Quote of the Decade:

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

    ~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Amazing how little debt we had in 2006 when he said this.

We need 4 trillion in cuts. Obama says we have 2.5 in deficit reduction so far. The sequester is 1.2 in cuts. That is 3.7 which is nearly there. Get it?

You use this deflection a lot. Don't want to address Obama's quote, do you?

So, your way of running around your parties deficit-talk from 2000-2008 is to play off like anyone bringing it up is deflecting?

Do you have nothing else to say other than to tell me to stop bringing it up?

Doubling down on your deflection here. I guess you can't deal with Obama's 2006 quote. I don't blame you.

What am I not able to deal with? The above quote?

Obama said it and meant it.

Why would I run from the quote? He says it today....he can't stand higher debt and he can't stand those who put it on the people because they are either too stupid or well....Republican.

Of course, you can't even really say that about Chaney's quote because Republicans are just not that intelligent enough to debate debt as it involves too many numbers and shiny objects.

What we learn from this is politicians don't give a fuck about anything but getting reelected.

I'm not sure how you can say these things. I am at a loss for words.

Say what? That he doesn't like high debt numbers even though he the debt has risen under him? The fact that some can't seem to understand why it has risen and the conditions Obama INHERITED....tells me that very few if any righties actually own their own businesses here.

so, if obama incurs $10,000,000,000,000 in new debt, but says he doesn't want to, that's okay
