I closed my facebook almost a year ago, best decision. I don`t care about other people I knew 30 yrs ago, I believe they don`t care about me either. We are self centred fools who think others care about us, so we post trivial info about ourselves, and no one really cares but ourselves. Twitter is used to read up on people, but it is getting to be a drag there too,. I am getting grumpy and cynical.

Well I dunno what your situation is but nearly a billion people have their entire lives posted at Facebook and Twitter. And a quarter of a MILLION Twitter accounts were just hacked and last week it was revealed that Facebook TRACKS your internet browsing even when you are not logged into Facebook.

While some think its a big fucking joke I feel its two huge warning signs that your internet privacy and personal info isn't safe one bit using either service.

But I don't give a fuck about other peoples personal info.. I only care about mine. If morons want Facebook watching what the look at on the net and wanna post their personal info all over these two sites then be my fucking guest.

In the 20 years I've been online I have never had a problem nor know anyone that has had a problem resulting from the internet. I know plenty of people that have had credit cards and checkbooks stolen from their snail mail, but no one that has had any monetary loss from anything on the net.

When I went to highschool if I told someone I had a webpage devoted to me with everything I liked, and endless comments about my fucking day to day movements my friends would have called me a self-absorbed asshole. Because that's all it really is.. Self absorbing bullshit. Attention whoring. Navel gazing. Mommy look at me shit. So that is one level of my distaste for social media.

The second level is posting your entire dossier online willingly like a fucking moron making it ripe for the picking for monetization, 3rd parties, predators, identity thieves, and hackers.

And its all being sold under the ridiculous guise of "being able to stay in touch with friends and family." What a load of shit that is.

Fair enough, that's your choice. Why the rabid crusade against it? There are lots of things in this world I don't like, but I don't go on the internet making multiple threads about it either.
