The rumor mill is cooking with news that Lindsay Lohan may soon open a restaurant. The news spread after the starlet was overheard talking about restaurant design at a commercial space up for lease in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood.
The Tribeca Citizen received an email from a local resident who reported, "We’re told that Lindsay Lohan was in the retail store currently in our commercial space late this afternoon." The tipster also said, "she was talking about the potential design of the space, including where she would like to put a bar and a DJ booth." The news outlet later added to the speculation, reporting that said Lohan restaurant would be an upscale Mexican eatery with a club.
As of late Monday, a second person has come forward to tell the Tribeca Citizen that they too saw Lohan in front of 39 N. Moore giving advice as it related to the space's potential. Though the website is saying they still have yet to confirm that Lohan is actually the one opening the restaurant, she has allegedly been to the site twice. The owner of the commercial space contacted Tribeca Citizen to confirm that a high-end Mexican restaurant has expressed interest in the space, but the deal has yet to be completed. They also denied that Lohan is a part of the restaurant, saying they have had no contact with her and "they don't even know her."
If the deal is inked, the next step would be to apply for a liquor license, which is often a long and arduous process in New York City. The Tribeca Citizen believes that it is unlikely the board would approve a high-end club in that particular location.
Is the landlord just covering for the celebutant? If Lohan is opening a restaurant she will not have to look far for celebrity clientele. A range of actors, musicians, and athletes call Tribeca — one of the wealthiest zip codes in New York City — home, including Beyoncé and Jay Z, New York Yankee Derek Jeter, Scarlett Johansson, funny woman Amy Pohler, Justin Timberlake, and, perhaps its most famous and longest-running resident, Robert DeNiro.
Do you believe the rumors? Should Lindsay Lohan open a restaurant/nightclub?
